REVIEW
2012 Kay Brothers Amery Hillside Shiraz/Syrah

Ive drunk a fair bit of Kay Bros in my time. Once upon a time was my go to winery when heading into the vale. I remember tumbling out of the winery after too many fortifieds, anyway I digress. This wine is spot on. Everything you could want from Mclaren Vale Shiraz. Perfect balance of fruit wood and spice. In such a great place after a few years rest.
Score
(Refined) Guide
Tasting: Blind
What I’m tasting: Blackberry, Vanilla, Graphite
What I’m thinking and feeling: Such a warm happy place, nothing sticks out. Such a well executed biggish Aussie red. Many wineries could learn a lot from this.
Where we bought it: Cellar Door
Price: $45
Region: SA - McLaren Vale
Wine(refined) Value Rating :
- Exceptional value, we’ve bought some already Stupid value, get on it
Wine(refined) Quality Rating :
- Special – It may appear that I’m listening to what you’re saying, but I’m actually solely focussed on this wine, and I’m nodding on auto-pilot as I’m thinking about how I can get more of it into my cellar. (18-19/20)
