REVIEW
2009 Tim Adams The Aberfeldy Shiraz/Syrah

What I’m Tasting:
What I’m Thinkign & Feeling: Just the ticket for colder Adelaide nights, one of the most consistent and best value premium SA reds (hard to think of a wine that beats it on those metrics), generous wine in every way, still dominated by primary fruit (under screwcap). If you had an aversion to oak, this is probably not your wine, but it all fits together quite nicely. Not the greatest vintage of Aberfeldy I’ve tasted, but still a delight and very more-ish.
Where We Bought It: Cellar Door (Tim Adams, Clare Valley)
Price: Perhaps $40-45 on release, closer to $50 these days.

Tasting: Not Blind
What I’m tasting: Blackberry, coconut, vanilla, blueberry, coffee
What I’m thinking and feeling: Just the ticket for colder Adelaide nights, hard to think of a more consistent and better value premium SA red, generous wine in every way, intense dark fruits and even more intense oak, but it all fits together very nicely. Like a warm hug from an old friend. Not the best vintage of Aberfeldy I've had, but still delightful and more-ish.

Price: $45
Wine(refined) Quality Rating :
- Where Did That Bottle Go? – You know, I didn’t give that wine a great deal of thought, but it did disappear much more quickly than I anticipated (between a few of us), which generally indicates an extremely good wine. (16-17/20)
